# In-person signing

> Hand your device to a recipient and let them sign on the spot, in a kiosk-style screen.

In-person signing lets a sender host a signing session on their own device, for a recipient who is physically with them. On an in-progress package, choose **Sign in person** from the package's actions menu. The **Sign in person** dialog lists the package's signers and who hosts each one. Select **Open signing session** to open the host screen at `/host/[token]`. Hosts named on a recipient are also emailed a **Start in-person signing** link. You need to be signed in to Flowsign to host.

  <Step title="Confirm the handoff">
    The host screen reads "Pass the device to `<recipient>`", with the **Document**, **Signer**, **Sent by** and **Host** named. Hand the device over and select **Continue**.

  <Step title="The recipient signs">
    A welcome screen greets the recipient by name and names the document and sender. **Start signing** opens the ordinary [signing](/guides/signing/signing-a-document) flow, under the recipient's own session, so documents, fields, consent and the audit trail all behave exactly as they would from an emailed link. **Back to host** returns to the previous screen.

  <Step title="Hand the device back">
    When the recipient finishes or declines, the screen thanks them and asks them to hand the device back. The host selects the **I'm** button with their own name.

  <Step title="Confirm you were there">
    The host sees **Signing complete** (or **Signing declined**) with the signer, document and time. Tick "I was present while `<recipient>` signed" (or "declined"), then select **End session** to return to the package. The confirmation is recorded against the host in the package's audit trail, and in the certificate of completion when it lands before the package is sealed. If another in-person signer you host on the package is ready, **Next on this package** starts their session instead.

If the session can't be started, the screen reads **Can't start this session** and explains why: someone else is set to host, it isn't this signer's turn yet, or the session was already signed, declined, cancelled, expired or revoked. It also shows when the sender is updating the package or has put it on hold.

  For a bulk send, choose **Sign in person** on the bulk send. A list of everyone waiting to sign with you opens, searchable by name, email or document. Pick a signer to start their session. After each one, **Next signer** returns to the list, and **End session** (or **Finish session** once everyone is done) closes it.
